Brisbane QLD's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: I, and all the people I know oppose the building of the pulp mill including my 12 year old daughter who has seen pictures of the magnificent trees that may be logged because of the mill's early stage part dependence on non-plantation timber. I
certainly would not bank with ANZ or invest any personal funds with Perpetual after their support of this fiasco, which is opposed by many Australians.

Joe Tela's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill:
Australians value our smallest state. Wisely using its natural resources in a sustainable way is one thing the continuation of rapacious policies of exploitation and destruction and the subverting of due process to assist them to become established practices is another completely. Only people with minds greedy for short-term profit fail to see the abhorrence of what is being pushed in the pulp mill proposal. The destruction from deforestation of the mining areas and rivers around Queenstown and the poisoning of the trees from the ore smelters, or the heavy metal pollution of the Derwent River, stick clearly in the minds of those who remember the gross errors of the past. Many of the mistakes of our forebears were exacerbated by their ignorance of the long-term environmental consequences of what they were doing. The same cannot be said in our much more informed age. To sanction, support and finance industrial development producing environmental damage on an equivalent scale is to my mind criminally reprehensible.
