don gordoni's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: Jobs are very important, Pulp too is important in our modern world, however there has to be a more rational approach to satisfying the conflicting demands of modern living where the potential for destruction of land and marine environments and the social fabric of affected inhabitants is so obviously open questionable.

Perhaps pulp has to cost more to meet these conflicting objectives. Protecting our planet has to come at a cost. So be it. Destruction of natural resources and the environment is however a one way tram where recovery, if ever contemplated in the future (when finally the adverse impacts of what we have sanctioned today are realized) it will be far too late to make good irreversible losses.

Mankind is learning these lessons, albeit far too slowly and irreversible damage to our planet and species is already catastrophic. Is mankind today any the better for the destruction already perpetrated? No. To argue otherwise is both unbelievably arrogant and selfish. There are always alternatives which will satisfactorily satisfy man's needs and arguably, very comfortably with conservation of resources and the wellbeing of future generations preserved in the way we plan our future.
Green Girl2's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: If this pulp mill goes ahead it will wreak havoc on our beautiful clean air, native flora and fauna which is unique to Tasmania. For all those people out there who have not watched An Inconvenient Truth, I highly recommend you do because it's a very insightful documentary into how we as humans are destroying this earth of ours and if we continue we will destroy ourselves also.
Di4's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: It is time we put a stop to big companies making money out of destroying such pristine environments. Our quality of life depends on these environments and not the pollutants that will bring in the so called millons of dollars and destroying our quality of life.
Polly32's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: We need to make decisions which are balanced on both environmental considerations and financial outcomes. I support the mill being relocated to save our forests and wildlife.
Corinne79's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: I haven't been aware up until this moment but from here I will do my best to make the changes necessary to make sure I am not unwittingly supporting the gunns corporation. For all things to live and survive in harmony we need biodiversity, so many ecosystems require the Tasmanian Forests for their survival and we require old growth forests and the like for the ongoing biodiversity of the earth that we inhabit, that our children will be left to inhabit. I am revulted how dollars and cents can blind us from the innate fact that we are all part of everything and with every seemingly insignificant piece of destruction that we inflict upon the earth, ripples will follow that may seem even more insignificant initially but it will come eventually and we will all pay the price for our outrageous arrogance.
Rach84's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: Be aware of your conscience and do the right thing. Invest your time and money in restoring our environment, not destroying it. The children of tomorrow beseech you.
KAF's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: There are too many unanswered questions that remain in regards to the pollution and ecological impact that the Pulp Mill will have on the local and wider environment. Local Tasmanians and the wider Australian community are horrified with the manner in which the Pulp Mill's approval process has been conducted. It seems that the voice of the people, the voters and those who bank and borrow from ANZ, have been ignored. The Pulp Mill cannot go ahead - the financial, political and most importantly, environmental and ecological fallout will be massive. Listen to us. Stop the Mill.
cherie1's Pledge to ANZ, Perpetual and Minister Turnbull about the pulp mill: Allowing the Pulp Mill to be built in Tasmania is akin to throwing out any ecological systems in favour of profit. No Planet No Profit. It's time for the Federal Government, inancial Institutions and large companies to realise they are jeopardising their own sustainability. ie. they won't be around long if they carry on like this.
